New Braunfels

New Braunfels Brewing Company

Small Brewery right across from Macadoos. Its mostly sour beers, and a small building, but it’s a neat place to pop in before you go eat somewhere or head to the other bars.

The Faust

Old school hotel with restaurant and in-house brewed beer. Down the street from the hotel there is a brewery tasting room that has limited hours.

Moonshine & Ale

If you are out late, consider ending here. It’s a traditional Piano cover song bar. It is loud, fun, and always has a good crowd.

Pourhaus

Right next door to downtown social, it’s a primarily outdoor bar with live music and 2 bars and live music. This place is a must if you have never been and want to have some drinks outside. They often have a food trailer, but you can pop in to downtown social if you are hungry.

Downtowner

In the mornings and early afternoon this place is more of a traditional diner with good food, and at night they transform to a more adventurous rotating menu with great cocktails.

Huisache Grill

This place is one of our go-to staples. Moderately priced for high quality food. They have a great courtyard area so you can grab some beer or a bottle of wine while you wait on your table. Huisache is beer and wine only but with a great selection. Try the mixed grill if you are a hungry carnivore!

Myron’s Steakhouse

Next door to Macadoos, and a very well-known steak house. Myrons has won awards over many steak houses that encompass the entire San Antonio area so if you want to get out and have a nice steak dinner or lobster you won’t be disappointed!

Very nice cajun style seafood joint/ oyster bar in one of the coolest buildings in town that used to be the post office. They have great brunch on the weekends that includes a build your own Bloody Mary bar.

Great option for pick up to bring back to the condo- tons of options for huge loaded baked potatoes (brisket, quesadilla, chicken fried steak, etc.), and they have awesome burgers on Texas toast!

Tin Top Burgers/ Rhea’s Ice Cream

Great burgers and beer selection with a small outdoor seating area and playscape for the little ones, and local ice cream shop, Rheas, shares the building for something sweet after dinner.

2 Tarts bakery

Featured on the food network, this bakery has simple breakfast items like kolaches and empanadas, and amazing baked goods like cupcakes, cookies, tortes, and great coffee. They stay open late so it’s a great option for a late-night snack after dinner or bar hopping.

Downtown Social

Menu has everything from pizza to salads, Multiple TVs, ping pong tables, shuffleboard, pool, a few bowling lanes. Great place to hang out and get some air conditioning after a long day at the river or the pool. It does become 21 and up at some point at night but kids can have plenty of fun before that.

Burgers, Sandwiches, very quality bar food. Pool tables and many TVs.

Phoenix Saloon

Scriven’s favorite burger in town, and chili that has been featured on the food network. Phoenix is primarily indoors and does play live music at night and turns to a bar. If you are taking kids, go earlier in the afternoon. If you are kid free it’s a great place to start the evening with a burger and a beer with live music, and you’ll be in the middle of downtown.

Krause’s

A traditional German biergarten. Plenty of seating with 2 large patio areas, very kid friendly, good food with German and traditional American options with a great beer menu. If you are in town on a Saturday, this is our go-to brunch spot because the parking lot also hosts the amazing New Braunfels Farmers market from 9-1. There is typically live music on the second outdoor patio. Our favorite food booth there is Christelle’s Culinary Corner , serving authentic Haitian and Asian Fusions.

Martini bar across from Gruene door. Great place to go get a drink before dinner if you are going to eat at Gruene door.
