Texas Gulf Coast
Port Aransas Beach
Port Aransas Beaches are all open to the public. They do require a beach permit pass and there is a fine if you do not have one. You can grab one on your way in for $15.00 at the Valero/ Stripes gas station right down the road from our unit at the corner or Access Rd 1-A and Hwy 361.
DRIVING: One of the great advantages of Port Aransas beach is they allow vehicles to drive on the beach. If you have a large party, we found it is easiest to bring your vehicle and unload a tent, chairs, coolers ect. If you do bring a tent, make sure to bring large nail down stakes to secure it. (The wind can be strong off the ocean and blow it away if not secured well).
WALKING: If you wish to walk, our unit is only a few blocks from the beach with side walks available most of the way. We’d recommend bringing a wagon to haul your gear.
Golf Cart Rentals
One of the best things about Port Aransas is driving everywhere on the golf cart! It really adds to your vacation. Robin with Texas Red Golf Carts is our preferred vendor, but we put 2 back-ups below that and a quick internet search will give you some more options.

There are some truly incredible places to eat in Port Aransas! Here are some of our favorite recommendations:
Restaurants that ACCEPT reservations
(we’d highly recommend making these as early in advance as possible, especially for larger parties and during high seasons)
TORTUGA: Great cocktails and delicious chef inspired dishes!
429 N Alister St, Port Aransas, TX 78373 | (361) 749-2739
VENETIAN HOT PLATE- One of our favorite Italian restaurants!
232 Beach St, Port Aransas, TX 78373 | (361) 749-7617
ROOSEVELTS: Fine dining, great for small intimate groups, or romantic date nights
200 E Cotter Ave, Port Aransas, TX 78373 | (361) 749-1540
TROUT STREET: Casual Dining with great outdoor views of the marina
104 W Cotter Ave, Port Aransas, TX 78373 | (361) 749-7800
Restaurants that do NOT accept reservations
LA PLAYA: Incredible margaritas with a killer tequila list! It is a small restaurant and usually has long wait times, with very limited space to wait. We often send a scout to get our name on the list, then come a little later with kids and family ;). They will also cook up your own catch if you went fishing that day!
222 Beach St #5312, Port Aransas, TX 78373 | (361) 749-0022
Iries Island Food: The flavors are amazing! Only open for lunch. Would recommend calling ahead and for take out. (Restaurant is very small)
200 W Avenue G, Port Aransas, TX 78373 | (361) 749-2310
Back Porch– outdoor casual dining overlooking water. Best place to take your catch of the day from fishing! They prepare it 3 ways: Grilled, Blackened and Fried
132 W Cotter Ave, Port Aransas, TX 78373 | (361) 749-2800
The Phoenix Restaurant and Bar –
3500-A Island Moorings Pkway, Port Aransas TX 78373 | (361) 749-9277
Island Cafe and Coaches Island Grill: great breakfast places, but both places are small and usually have very long wait times on the weekends. They do take to-do orders.
Coffee Waves and Gelato: Great place to grab a quick breakfast or Coffee! Easy drive on golf cart from townhome
Off TX-361, Port Aransas, TX 78373 (in shopping center with Ace Hardware)
FUN THINGS FOR KIDS:
Red Dragon Pirate Cruise– our own personal opinion I would NOT take small kids on this. It’s long, and very theatrical and very, very hot. Older kids seemed to have a great time, but younger ones were melting down by the second! Bring very cool clothes, maybe a fan and come hydrated! https://www.reddragonpiratecruises.com/
